Who is JOKstudios?

JOKstudios is me, Jo, hello! I have heaps of enthusiasm for all things creative.

I specialise in high quality design, illustration, photography and art.

My Products.

All my products are printed from original hand painted watercolour illustrations. 

Every card and giclee print is printed in the UK. All greeting cards proudly use all recycled card & envelopes. Even all my stickers and protective sleeves are biodegradable and packaging is plastic free.

A bit about me.

Setting up JOKstudios is an exciting venture to continue being creative whilst balancing my home life and freelance work. It's been an amazing learning curve, running a small business across multi platforms via Instagram, Pinterest, my online shop (Etsy), retail and my website.

How I started out.

I have over 15 years of experience in various commercial design disciplines and my profession has predominantly been in the design broadcast industry.

My career has ranged from Head of Design at Virgin Media TV, freelance designer and small business owner.

I have also successfully completed a foundation course in Art Psychotherapy, gaining a fascinating insight into how art therapy can bridge gaps and open up communication. This is where I rediscovered my love for painting and illustration.

For over a year I was Teaching art for a sheltered housing charity. Providing a group of people regular creative challenges and social contact. One group member was completely blind, another struggled from the after effects of a stroke, others were in wheelchairs with limited hand movement. I was able to encourage them all to have a go, to discover drawing and sculpture and communicate through their art.

I currently work in a school, part time as an Art Curriculum Assistant. It's a creative hub, where I get to help students learn and develop their art skills. I also teach the A-level students how to draw the human figure, by running bespoke life drawing lessons.

So why photography?
Working in TV & animation I am always seeing the world through a creative lens! Photography allows me to capture that and keep my creativity fresh and ever evolving.

I want to offer a unique photography experience, that makes people look twice. 

Every photograph combination is cleverly combined to offer an alternative impression of the buildings, places & landmarks we know so well.

My furry buddy, Ancho Chillie Pepper the cat, is my office ‘help.’

I love to collect stones with holes all the way through them….it takes me to my favourite place; the beach! 

JOK is actually how I sign my art. It’s my initials Jo K (for Jo Kheir)
